The long road

She started cycling at 37. The records came later.

Dorina Vaccaroni went to her first Olympic Games at sixteen, and to three more after that. She came home from them with a bronze, a silver and a gold. That was one life.

The one she is living now began on a bike at 37, turned to ultra-distance in 2014, and has since taken her across America twice as a winner. The medals are in a drawer somewhere. What carried over is the part that matters: an appetite for a hard day, and a refusal to be finished.
